This is my point exactly. Female students, my son, and other male children,
cannot benefit from education, be it pedagogy, content, invisibility of
content or anything else that does not open their eyes to the way the world is
or has been. I have been denied the reality of female contributions in math
and science because of the omission of content in my educational experiences
and this continues today. As we change our behaviors as teachers, our biases
become more and more subtle, but are still very much there (due to our own
socialization experiences) in what we do not present in class. We must work
to examine or behaviors and or choices for curriculum.
