WEEA Equity Resource Center and the New England Comprehensive Assistance Center
at EDC invite you to an on-line workshop:

ENGAGING MIDDLE-SCHOOL GIRLS IN MATH AND SCIENCE

A web course for teachers exploring better ways of teaching math and science to
middle-school girls, especially those of color, those with disabilities, those
living in poverty, and those whose first language isn't English.

We have research, role models, and web-links to share. We have multicultural
lesson plans and experiments for you to try out. We have a lot of unanswered
questions. We'd like to work through them with you.

Explore the subject. Examine your own teaching techniques and curriculum.
Explore ways of including different perspectives. Talk with other teachers and
students. Learn and share.

This is a New England field-test to be offered nationally winter, 1999. Get in
on the ground level. Together, all of us can make it work.

PDP's available Cost: $25 Enrollment: limited to 30 students
Course length: 4 weeks, comparable to a 4-hour intensive workshop
Date: mid-June
Offered by WEEA Equity Resource Center, in collaboration with New England
Comprehensive Assistance Center at EDC.
