SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING INDICATORS 1998 NOW HAS EASY ACCESS ON THE WEB

Researchers, academics, business leaders, educators and the media
will enjoy much improved access to science & engineering
indicators because of new technology used in the web version of
the National Science Board's Science and Engineering Indicators
1998. The report will be available on three web formats:

=FA "Enhanced" HTML - This version offers easy navigation to any
section of S&E Indicators, using toolbars on the left side and
across the top of the monitor screen. Charts and tables open in
separate windows to allow for side-by-side comparison of text and
data;

=FA "Accessible" HTML - This format make the report more easily
accessible to the handicapped and for persons using older access
technologies or slower Internet connections;

=FA Portable Document (pdf) - This version retains the design
and layout of the printed publication, allowing an individual to
print a personal copy of the report regardless of which printer
or platform used.

The site also offers a detailed help section-describing features
that will assist with navigating and viewing the 800-page
document.

The web versions of Science and Engineering Indicators 1998 will
be available after 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 30. The URL is:
