The source you cite says that women and men both experience physical
violence; that is all it says; it does not break down the results by
severity and consequences. By this study, you cannot know what the
reactions were. You do not want to set up a social policy or an
educational policy that says verbal or minor violence justifies major
violence. We want children of both genders to recognize that they can
control their responses to provocation. (As if the girls weren't
provoked--the study's one clear finding of gender difference was that
the girls were much more provoked.) Going postal is not something we
want to condone--especially in schools.
