Recently, we have learned that the Department of Labor and the Organization
>for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will jointly conduct a
>High-level Conference on Youth here in Washington, D. C . The dates are
>February 23-24, 1999. This meeting will be followed immediately by the
G-8 meeting, so we expect it to be very high-profile. The purpose of the
meeting will be to review and update the policies and practices of governments
related to this important segment of society.
>
>The women of the OECD membership have expressed interest in this meeting and
will be making efforts to have roles through participation on country
>delegations, the preparation and review of papers, etc. One other area is
>the possibility of outside participation. I have already asked if NGO's
>with specific interest in the subject matter will be able to participate and
have been invited to provide the ETA person who is in charge with an
>invitation list.
>
>I would like you to suggest those groups (group officials' names) and
>addresses that you know are vitally interested in the policies and programs
related to the employment, training and education of young women, in particular.
May I have feed back by Friday, November 6. Thank you.
