If the Supreme Court declines to protect girls from harassment in
school, that will usher back a darkness over our daughters' future and
the future of this country from which we will not easily recover. In
case you feel inclined to brush aside such a decision, consider that
such harassment of us as Jews or as African Americans is already
considered beyond the pale, although done. We must finally take the step
that the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights urges on us: treat
women and girls as fully human--at the very least in our federal courts!
It's outrageous for the trivializers to suggest that such harassment,
sedulously ignored by sexist school boards, is not on a par with racist
and homophobic harassment. Call out the National Guard! We demand
protection for our daughters in public schools! We pay taxes to schools,
they owe us mutual respect! Cite the Supreme Court for Contempt of the
People!

lead to a lawsuit?" (The Recorder -- For complete story, see
