Briefly, this is conversation is an invaluable service. Thank you.

Question: I am very interested in hearing thoughts on parental
notification of students involved as witnesses, complainants and accused
parties at the three response levels described by Mary Jo McGrath.
Specifically, your input would be welcome on the need for and/or value
of parental notification regarding students of different ages in the
informational stage versus investigative stage of potential complaints.
The same goes for the possible differing needs for parental notification
when dealing with complaints between students and complaints that also
involve an adult in some role (for instance, an adult complains about
adult to adult SH and a student is named as a witness). The same goes
for notifying parents BEFORE talking to students versus AFTER talking to
students. Many school policies state that students have the right to
have a supportive adult present if they choose. At what age can that
student decide if that adult needs to be his or her own parent? We've
found varying responses to these varying situations and are looking for
ways to create consistency in what we're doing.
