Purple Moon is back. My daughter was interacting with the site
http://www.purple-moon.com/cb/laslink/pm?stat+pm_place
yesterday. But I don't know what the story is, whether this is temporary or
permanent.

Although, Moms are partially to blame for the Barbie phenomenon, Dads also need
to be held accountable. Other adults also perpetuate stereotypes. The gynder
dichotomy begins in the womb with questions of whether it will be a girl or a
boy. It's as if a persyn needs to know the gynder before they know how to
interact! The gynder-based treatment continues with stereotypical comments about
the infants, such as "My, how
strong he is." and "She is so adorable." This process of acting, interacting,
and reacting to others based on gynder (race, orientation, ...) continues
throughout our lives.

The key is be aware of our choices and to do what we can as individuals
and as social agents (parents, teachers, advocates, writers, professsionals,...)
to be our best selves and to bring out the best in each other. It is also about
awareness, resistance, and change.
