Gender Equity and Advertising

I find it inspiring to hear about teachers (and others) who find those
"teachable moments" and incorporate it into real life situations.

An article in the Washington Post, March 4, 1999 describes an ad by the
Children's Hospital with a teen girl whose stomach pain stems from
algebra. A fourth grade teacher showed the ad to her class and used it
as an opportunity to help them learn about stereotypes, gender equity as
well as a lesson in statistics and writing.
