Gender bias on campus

The American Association of University Professors last month reported
that the gap in salaries between male and female faculty members of the
same rank actually worsened from 1975 to 1998, even though the
proportion of women teaching at universities and colleges grew over that
period. Women are moving into academia in greater numbers, but they seem
to be less valued and more likely to be relegated to lesser-paying jobs
in lower-ranking institutions...
