Girls underestimate school performance

Findings in the March/April issue of the journal Child Development
concluded girls underestimate and boys overestimate their academic
competence compared to teachers' ratings. Led by Dr. David A. Cole at
the University of Notre Dame, they spent 3-years asking 800 third- and
sixth- grade students their views on their academic abilities while
evaluating each students' level of depression and/or anxiety.
