re: the shows attacking women's rights:

I am appalled to find that PBS is focusing on Title IX of the Education
Amendments of 1972 as a law that promotes women's rights at the expense
of men's. Women do not receive their rights at anyone's expense. They do
not have the same participation in athletics or indeed in any arena of
education and life that men do. Title IX is the only protection (and not
very sturdy!) girls and women have, K-postgraduate school, against
sexual harassment, academic and athletic discrimination. The education
they get is the basis for their entrance into the world of economic
opportunity; and it is not producing anything like equity in the
workplace. We have a long way to go before women will have equal
opportunities with men; and not one of their successes has come or will
come at the expense of men. It is a tawdry attack on the status of girls
and women to propose that women's rights impair men's rights. It is an
attack intended to preserve male privilege and inequity.
The advocates of rights for women ask you to provide public and
advertised forums equal to these shows to discuss these crucial issues
for the millennium.
