SUMMIT '99: TOWARD A NATIONAL VOICE: MAXIMIZING OUR EFFECTIVENESS promises to
be a one-of-a-kind networking, learning and coalition building event. Workshops
and roundtables vary from lobbying to integrating youth into programs and
initiatives to research and evaluation to technology (see workshop listing
below).
"Live Talk," the talk-show session modeled after "Politically Incorrect," and
sectoral/discipline and regional caucuses will provide ample opportunity for
strategic planning and addressing the field's most urgent issues. Jim Copple,
deputy executive director of the National Crime Prevention Council will host
"Live Talk." Tony Borbon, assistant director of the Violence Prevention
Coalition of Greater Los Angeles, and Jose Rosado, case manager and gang street
outreach coordinator at Youth Force in New York, are confirmed guests.
The fee ($190.00, member; $250.00, nonmember) includes all Summit programming
(workshops, roundtables, film festival, breakfasts, lunches, pre-Summit
actvities, caucuses, and trip to Downtown San Antonio) and materials and, for
newcomers, one full year of membership. Youth can attend for $100. There is a
flat rate of $89.00 at the hotel (877-377-7227) and special deals with American
and Delta airlines. There are a number of packages for exhibitors and
