I am so DISGUSTED with this sort of review that IGNORES completely the
largest civil rights movement in the history of the world, i.e., the U.S.
women's suffrage movement.
The enfranchisement of women in the U.S. - the most powerful example of
grassroots and informed activist leadership in America - has been, in my
opinion, intentionally ignored. It has been ignored, in my opinion, because it
is a sterling example of HOW THINGS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED.
Instead we have women doing the "make work" things of parading and
waving of banners rather than solid political action that actually changes
things. IF Carrie Chapman Catt headed NOW we'd have the ERA plus a few
other things like equal pay. Instead, we have a dying feminist movement that is
a joke.
