A few years ago, I learned about the DATE Project at California State
University, Northridge. The DATE project was a date rape prevention program with
emphasis on education, not judgement. Their mission was "to educate and
sensitize students regarding appropriate male/female interactions and to
increase awareness and understanding of the individual's role in these
interactions." At the time, the Carolyn Okazaki, LCSW, BCD and Bruce Shapiro,
Ph.D. were in charge of the program through the University Counseling Services
http://www.csun.edu/~hfpsy004/ or
(818) 677-2366. However, it looks like it is now being coordinated through the
Valley Trauma Center, 8949 Reseda Blvd., Suite 222, Northridge, CA 91324,
(818) 886-0453.
