While basically accurate, girls can tryout for the sports mentioned that are
predominately thought of as male. Here we have female wrestlers, and at times
have had female football players as there have been throughout the
country. I believe court decisions have challenged excluding on the basis
of gender from even contact sports.

Soccer has nothing to do with other sports' loss of popularity. What
is happening is that thanks to Title IX more girls are entering sports
and are very much attracted to Soccer in part because of the Women's
National team which has been a real source of inspiration. Football and
wrestling and many other sports have NEVER been open to girls and for this
reason Title IX has really nothing to do with the decline of popularity of these
male dominated sports...
