FYI, my college (Hampshire College, a small, alternative education
liberal arts school in Western Massachusetts) also did an annual science
day for young girls. We had a good committment from faculty and
students to keep it going (at least when I was there) and I don't
believe there was much 'hard costs' associated with it -- just
transporting the girls and feeding them lunch. The rest was mostly
time.
