Building Math Knowledge for Teaching Fractions to Struggling Learners (Grades 5-6)

What are the 3 components of the comprehensive PD Program?

Summer Institute: A Hands-On & In-Depth Exploration of Fraction Concepts, Student Misconceptions, and Research-Based Practices

Dates: August 7-9, 2012 Times: 8:30- 3:30
Location: EDC, 43 Foundry Ave, Waltham, MA Directions Food: Coffee, lunch, and snacks will be provided

What will you do at the institute?

On-Line Course: Differentiated PD for Teachers
Dates: Sept. 26 -Nov. 20, 2012
7 Sessions: Sessions are 1-week long and run from Wednesday through Tuesday. (The final session is 2-weeks long).
Expectations: You are expected to spend about 3 hours on each session. Tasks include solving math problems, examining student work, trying ideas with students, and contributing to on-line discussions.
No prior experience with on-line courses needed. Course facilitators will provide support.
