Putting Partnerships into Practice:

Strategies for Public Health and Highway Safety Collaboration

From Summer 1994
Volume I, Number 2

On September 24, state officials from injury prevention, EMS, and highway safety agencies will gather in Sacramento, California, for a day of discussion and planning on interagency collaboration to prevent motor vehicle injuries. This unusual opportunity is being made possible with funding from NHTSA and CDC and planning by the Health and Injury Committee of the National Association of Governor Highway Safety Representatives (NAGHSR) with participation by the State and Territorial Injury Prevention Directors Association (STIPDA). The commitment of highway safety officials to this effort is clear; many are providing the resources needed by public health and EMS staff to attend the symposium.

Putting Partnerships into Practice will also be the beneficiary of some very creative scheduling. STIPDA is holding its annual meeting just before the conference and NAGHSR is convening its annual meeting the day after Putting Partnerships into Practice ends. Holding both meeitng in Sacramento adjacent to Putting Partnerships into Practice should maximize participation in the conference by both organizations' members.
