Follow-Up
The planning group and conference sponsors hope that Putting
Partnerships Into Practice represents an ongoing commitment to
collaboration between those in public health and traffic safety. NHTSA has
funded Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC) to provide follow-up support
and assist states in moving ahead with the plans developed during the afternoon
workshops. Staff from EDC will be contacting conference participants to
determine whether they implemented their plans, the types of assistance they
need from federal agencies, the barriers they have encountered, and strategies
they have found useful. This information will be presented in the EDC-produced
and NHTSA-funded periodical Building Bridges Between Traffic Safety and
Public Health and in a final report, which will be available in September
1995.
