National Drive Safely at Work Week
Volume 2, Number 2 - January/February 1999
Motor vehicle crashes cost American businesses more than $50 billion a year in lost work time, increased health benefits, and lowered productivity. Each crash on the job costs employers an average of almost $10,000. National Drive Safely at Work Week (April 19–23, 1999) is an opportunity for employers and Safe Communities coalitions to work together to prevent motor vehicle crashes and their human and economic costs.
Each day of National Drive Safely at Work Week (NDS@WW) will focus on a different key issue, including occupant protection, impaired driving, aggressive driving, sharing the road with trucks, and driver inattention. The Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) has produced a program tool kit (available for $20) that includes resources for organizing a NDS@WW in your company or community. For more information or a copy of the NETSWorks newsletter, contact NETS, 1900 L Street, NW, Suite 705, Washington, DC 20036. Telephone: (202) 223-7012; e-mail: nets@trafficsafety.org; WWW: www.trafficsafety.org.
