United Tribes Technical College Injury Prevention Program

United Tribes Technical College Injury Prevention ProgramThe United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, North Dakota, is the only college in the United States to offer an undergraduate degree in injury prevention. The program trains injury prevention professionals who will work on reservations to reduce what program director Dennis Renville calls "epidemic rates" of highway fatalities, suicides, and domestic violence. The curriculum includes courses on epidemiology, traffic injuries, and program planning. The college also works with the University of North Carolina Injury Prevention Research Center to bring the program to other Indian and rural colleges.
