Jerilyn McIntyre

Central Washington University

President Jerilyn McIntyre has been committed to reducing high-risk AOD use on the Central Washington University campus through working with key constituencies on campus and in the surrounding community. President McIntyre has supported collaboration and data sharing between municipal and country law enforcement agencies, CWU’s campus police, and the Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. This collaboration allowed both on- and off-campus AOD violations to be considered in CWU’s four-step student sanctioning process This sanctioning process includes optional parental notification on the first violation, with automatic parental notification on the second and subsequent violations, and suspension on the fourth violation.

Also, in 2001 President McIntyre authorized the Director of Wellness to convene an Campus-Community Coalition to prevent high-risk and illegal AOD use on campus and the surrounding community. Committee membership includes representatives from local law enforcement, community prevention and treatment leaders, and CWU administration and students. President McIntyre has also supported the permanent funding of Wellness Services dealing with AOD prevention, sexual assault prevention and response, and campus health education, through a mandatory student fee consolidation with student health and counseling services.
