Frederick Community College
Patricia Stanley
is a committed leader in the effort to curb high-risk drinking and substance
abuse at community colleges. Stanley has participated in the Higher Education
Center’s effort to address substance abuse issues at community colleges
since its inception, attending the Roundtable on Community College Health
and Safety: Preventing Substance Abuse and Violence meeting in January of
2002. When the Community College PLG effort was conceptualized at this roundtable
meeting, Dr. Stanley immediately expressed interest in taking part.
In addition to these efforts on a national level, she has ensured the existence and availability of alcohol prevention initiatives on the Frederick Community College campus, providing the necessary resources to increase alcohol awareness activities and programs for students at freshman orientation and during Alcohol Awareness Week. President Stanley understands the importance of a comprehensive approach to prevention and plans to implement environmental prevention strategies at Frederick Community College. The Higher Education Center looks forward to working with President Stanley in her continued efforts to develop and maintain a healthy community college environment, not only on her own campus, but on others around the nation.
