As UK’s president, Dr. Todd leads one of the nation’s top 50 universities. UK recently received a 50thranking from U.S. News & World Report. UK enrolled over 34,000 students in the fall of 2002; it employs more than 10,000 faculty and staff and operates on an annual budget of $1.3 billion. Dr. Todd received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from UK in 1968 and his master’s, advanced electrical engineering, and doctoral degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1970, 1971 and 1973, respectively. He co-founded the Kentucky Science and Technology Corp., a not-for-profit organization focused on increasing university research capacity, developing K-12 science and technology education programs and encouraging an entrepreneurial economy in Kentucky.

He is married to Patricia Brantley Todd, a 1968 UK graduate and member of the Governor’s School for the Arts Advisory Committee. They have two children: Troy and Kathryn.
