Network Primer
© 2000 Education Development Center, Inc.

The Network Primer provides an introduction for educators to network management and technology. You don’t have to know anything about these subjects to read (and, I hope, enjoy) it. If you are a manager with no technology background and you are responsible for technology planning, then this book will provide you with enough technical information so that you can ask the right questions and identify good answers. You’ll also read more technical details, specifications, and acronyms—about local area networks, the Internet, wireless connections, and many other topics—than you probably care to know. Finally, the Network Primer summarizes best practices in technology management so that you can make your resources, which are always scarce, stretch as far as possible.

Support for the Network Primer was provided by The AT&T Foundation; a grant from the U.S. Department of Education to NetTech (The Northeast Regional Technology in Education Consortium); and Education Development Center, Inc.
