Emily Fagan is a Senior Curriculum Design Associate. She works to develop on-line and print curriculum, assessment and professional development materials and courses for a variety of projects including Addressing Accessibility in Middle School Mathematics, Maine’s Impact Study of Technology in Mathematics, E-Learning for Educators and The MathScape Curriculum Center.
Prior to this role, Emily was the Project Director for the MathScape: Seeing and Thinking Mathematically Curriculum Center, a satellite of the NSF-funded Show-Me Center at the University of Missouri. Her work focused on supporting schools, districts and teachers who used MathScape, a standards-based middle grades curriculum. She developed workshops and teacher resource materials for MathScape units and provided professional development to users of MathScape across the country . She also directed the 2005 Revision of the MathScape Program.
Before joining EDC, Emily taught high school and middle school mathematics for nine years in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts. She was a mentor teacher in Brookline and a member of the Massachusetts Faculty of the Coalition of Essential Schools while teaching in Salem, Massachusetts. In addition to mathematics, Emily has taught Social Studies and Science and is interested in special education, bilingual education and gender equity in education. Emily holds a B.A. from Harvard University.
