Fred Gross is a Managing Project Director at COPE. He has lead the PBS TeacherLine and the Columbus Online Math Lessons projects. He is the Co-Principal Investigator for the NSF-funded Addressing Accessibility in Mathematics, Phase 2, the Principal Investigator for the NSF-funded Building District Capacity to Improve Mathematics Learning by Students with Special Needs and the Project Director for the development of online courses for the U.S. Department of Defense Education Activity.
Before joining EDC, Fred was the Mathematics and Equity Specialist for the Eisenhower Regional Alliance at TERC in Cambridge, as well as the mathematics curriculum coordinator and staff developer for the Sudbury, Massachusetts K-8 school district. He has been a teacher of middle and high school math and science in regular and special education classrooms for 23 years.
A co-author of The Power of Numbers: A Mathematics Curriculum in a Social Studies Context, Fred has consulted with schools throughout the country, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the International School in Bangkok. He earned his B.A. in Education from Ohio University and his M.Ed. in Moderate Special Needs from Lesley College.
