Heidi Larson

Heidi Larson is a Research Associate with COPE. She is currently working on a number of projects, including Maine's Impact Study of Technology in Mathematics, where she is coordinating the evaluation of the intervention; Optimizing the Impact of Online Professional Development for K-12 Teachers, where her responsibilities have included recruiting teachers and facilitating an online course; and the proposal for the Regional Educational Laboratory, a 5-year contract with the Department of Education. In her time at COPE, Heidi has also been project manager of the 2-year grant Research, Evaluation, and Technical Assistance, a supporting role to the NSF-funded Math & Science Partnerships, and was the online developer of the Literacy Environment Enrichment Program.

Prior to joining EDC, Heidi was the Educational Technology Media Specialist for the California Virtual Campus Region IV, a grant that exposed community college instructors and administrators to online education and best practices for teaching with it. Heidi has been working in online education since 1997, when she created the online portion of a 6-month course for professional brewers. Since then she has worked on other online courses as varied as a customer service training tool for One Stop Center employees to a course for phlebotomists preparing to pass the California certification requirements. Her other consulting work includes reviewing educational software for the online journal Training Media Review, creating business websites, and creating and maintaining student tracking systems for two small schools.

Heidi received a B.A. from Colby College, a certificate in online teaching from Cerro Coso Community College, and an Ed.M. in Technology in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
