Susan Janssen

Susan Janssen is a Senior Research Associate at COPE. For more than 12 years at EDC, her work has focused largely on middle grades mathematics curriculum development, mathematics teacher professional development and research and development of online coursework for both teachers and students. She has served as the director and content writer of the MathScape Curriculum Center, a center that supports the implementation of the NSF-funded mathematics curriculum MathScape developed at EDC. Susan is currently the lead developer on several online courses, and has written print and online materials for clients including the U.S. Department of Defense Schools, the Columbus, Ohio public schools and the PBS TeacherLine project. Her online development work has also included online courses used as part of the Optimizing Online Professional Development project to conduct research on the effectiveness of online learning for teachers.

Prior to coming to EDC, Susan taught middle school and high school mathematics for a number of years in Portland and Saco, Maine and in Brookline, Massachusetts. She has an undergraduate degree in mathematics and a Masters in Secondary Education, with a concentration in curriculum.
