Alaska has content standards for technology and for information literacy across grade levels. The Alaska State Board of Education adopted these standards and key elements as voluntary guidelines for Alaska's schools. The content standards and their associated key elements for English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Government and Citizenship, Skills for a Healthy Life, Arts, World Languages, and Technology are presented in a booklet.
Arizona has comprehensive technology standards for kindergarten, grades 1-3, 4-8, and 9-12.
Arkansas' Learning Standards are defined in the Arkansas Curriculum Frameworks which describe what students must know and be able to do in each academic content area at three critical levels: grades 4, 8, and 12. Use of technology is integrated into these standards.

Skill Standards for the Network Technician These standards were developed by the Communications Workers of America (CWA), US West, and the South King County (south of Seattle, Washington) Tech Prep Consortium. The Telecommunications industry is defined as that industry which deals with the development, manufacturing and operations of communications systems (hardware and software) for the recording, storage, processing and distribution of voice/video and data. The goal of the project is to specify the knowledge, skills and abilities an individual needs to succeed as a telecommunications network technician. While the title generally refers to installation and maintenance it also refers to other job titles. Job functions are described through a listing of tasks, performance criteria, technical knowledge, SCANS skills and personal qualities. See the CWA Website at
The Illinois Learning Standards integrate use of technology into the standards for each subject area and K-12 grade level; clustered into Early Elementary, Late Elementary, Middle/Junior High School, Early High School, and Late High School.

Internation Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Technology Foundation Standards
The International Society for Technology Education (ISTE) has developed technology foundation standards, divided into six broad categories, for all students. These categories provide a framework for linking performance indicators found within the Profiles for Technology Literate Students to the standards. Teachers can use these standards and profiles as guidelines for planning technology-based activities in which students achieve success in learning, communication, and life skills. The ITCCI is a partnership of Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA), and the National Alliance of Business (NAB) to create a national model and career cluster curricular framework for IT careers that involve the design, development, support and management of hardware, software, multimedia and systems integration services. Foundation Knowledge & Skills represent those skills, both academic and technical, that all students within the cluster should achieve regardless of their pathway selection.

The Ohio Information Technology Competency Profile, developed jointly by the Joint Council of the Ohio Board of Regents and the State Board of Education, provides the framework for itWORKS.OHIO, a broad-based educational response to Ohio's need for a skilled information technology (IT) workforce. The profile includes information technology competencies centered upon core academic subject areas and built around four occupational clusters: Information Services and Support, Network Systems, Programming and Software Development, and Interactive Media. The profile was generated using the Ohio Tech Prep model of curriculum development and reflects the job opportunities and skills required for Ohio's information technology workers. The Louisiana Content Standards integrate the use of technology - and recommend specific software programs - for each subject area and K-12 grade level; clustered into K-4, 5-8, and 9-12.

The Masachusetts Tech Prep Information Technology Project's mission is to design, develop and validate a statewide model for the Tech Prep Information Technology Cluster.
Michigan has draft benchmarks for information technology for early elementary, later elementary, middle school, and high school.
The Nebraska Education Technology Center provides Student Essential Learnings for K-12 students; clustered into grades PreK-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12.
New York State has Learning Standards for K-12 students, clustered into Elementary, Intermediate, and Commencement. Technology standards are integrated into the Math, Science and Technology area and in the Career Development and Occupational Studies area.
North Carolina has developed a curriculum matrix for computer/technology skills for Kindergarten, Grades 1 through 8, and high school.
eTech Ohio manages a telecommunications network that supports the distribution of educational content and online learning.
Oklahoma outlines Instructional Technology, Information Literacy, and Technology Education skills for grades K-12. These skills are part of the state's Priority Academic Student Skills.
Skill Standards for IT
The National Workforce Center for Emerging Technologies at Bellevue Community College, with information technology employers, has developed skill standards for what people need to know and be able to do to succeed in 8 career areas: Web developer, Programming/Software Engineering Database Administrator, Enterprise Systems Analyst, Network Administrator, Digital Media, Technical Support and Technical Writer. These skill standards identify tasks, performance criteria, technical knowledge, as well as the foundation skills and personal qualities needed for work in those IT careers. These standards can be used to upgrade skills and knowledge for current IT employees and to form the basis for development of technical education programs (vocational school, technical college and adult training) for immediate employment in the IT industry.
