Masculinities at School by Nancy Lesko
This book presents a collection of current critical scholarship on the creation of masculinities in schools.
Contributors examine experiences in North American, Australian, and British schools at all levels from preschool
to graduation, and from school settings such as computer labs to the football field. The result is a thoughtful
analysis of how masculinities are related to competing definitions of masculinity and femininity. The chapters
show how masculinities are constructed among teachers, students, and administrators and locates these analyses

merican males and the American culture. Kimmel argues that it is time for men to rediscover their own evolution.
Kimmel believes that men must follow the lead of the women's movement, for only by mining their past for its best

More Than a Few Good Men: Strategies for Inspiring Boys and Young Men To Be Allies in Sexist Education

Big Brother Big Sister Association of America was founded in 1904. In 1977 the Big Brothers and Big Sisters
organizations merged into Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and the national headquarters was established
in Philadelphia. Today BBBSA provides one-to-one mentoring relationships between adult volunteers and children
primarily from single-parent families in over 500 programs throughout the United States.
Boys and Girls Club Services of Greater Victoria, British Columbia
The primary mission of Boys and Girls Club Services of Greater Victoria is to enhance the quality of life in
their community by supporting children, youth and families in achieving their potential. They sponsor social,
educational, and recreational programs for the youth of their area. In addition, they run 3-6 month youth
outreach programs. Youth are guided by professionals to manage their lives independently, including locating
stable places to live, writing resumes, and seeking jobs.
Girls and Boys Town reaching 5,941 children in 2000 teaches new skills to young people battling serious deeply
rooted problems. They face difficulties far more troubling than those of the average American youngster, but
they do get better as a result of the competent compassionate intervention of the Girls and Boys Town
professionals are trained to provide.
