Dr. Shimon Glick is a native of New Jersey and graduate of Downstate Medical Center in New York who trained in internal medicine at Yale University Medical Center and Mount Sinai Hospital. He subsequently was a research fellow in the laboratory of Berson and Yalow (Nobel Laureate) at the Bronx Veterans Administration Hospital. Before his immigration to Israel in 1974, he was Chief of Medical Services at the Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn and Clinical Professor of Medicine at Downstate Medical Center. He was president of the Association of Jewish Scientists, USA from 1965 - 1967. In 1974, he became Professor of Medicine and Chairman of the Division of Medicine at the new Ben Gurion University Faculty of Health Sciences in Beer Sheva, Israel, where he was subsequently Dean and head of Health Services in the Negev Region. He currently heads the Center for Medical Education, and is a member of the Jakobovits Center for Jewish Medical Ethics at that school. He is a member of the Israel Ministry of Health National Advisory Committee on the Ethics of Human Experimentation, and is one of the founders of the Israeli Society of Medical Ethics. He was formerly president of the Israel Endocrine Society and served as Associate Editor of the Israel Journal of Medical Sciences. Dr. Glick is the husband of Brenda (née Rubenstein) a native of Cincinnati, father of 6 and grandfather of 34.
