Sandra Mahood is the Volunteer Partnership Programs Coordinator for The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. Sandra has a background in the fields of education and training and in volunteer management. She has been with The Hospice since 1996 and has provided leadership in the design and development of The Hospice Teen Volunteer program. This award winning program has received national recognition from the National Hospice Foundation, the President's Service Award and the Points of Light Foundation. Sandra has consulted with hospices throughout the country who are interested in starting or expanding a youth service program and has presented at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and Florida Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. annual symposiums.

As the coordinator of the teen volunteer program, Ms. Mahood works with public and private schools, community agencies and departments and teams within The Hospice. She has provided direction in grants and program development. The HTV (Hospice Teen Volunteer) marketing project brought teens together to design a recruitment campaign. This project resulted in a teen recruitment video, a brochure and a Teen Speakers Bureau. Lifetime Legacies, a life review project, equips teens to capture a patients' life stories on video tape, or in a scrapbook or journal. This project included the development of life review training curriculum and Celebrating Life, a patient journal. These tools will be available in the near future for hospices or other health care providers interested in replicating all or parts of this program.
