Tim Ayers, PhD
Dr. Tim S. Ayers is Assistant Director of the Prevention Research Center at
Arizona State University and has been involved with the Family Bereavement
Program for the past seven years. He received his PhD in Clinical
Psychology at Arizona State University, continued his post-doctoral
training and took his first faculty position in prevention research at Yale
University. Over the past 16 years he has been involved in the the
development of competence promotion programs in school-based settings and
in the development of prevention programs for children who have experienced
a variety of stressful circumstances. His substantive research interests
include the assessment of coping and competence in children and adolescents
and methodological issues in the evaluation of prevention programs. He is
a licensed clincial psychologist and served as one of the primary clinical
supervisors of the intervention groups offered through the Family
Bereavement Program.

Irwin Sandler, PhD
Irwin Sandler, PhD is the Director of the Prevention Research Center and the Program for Prevention Research and is the Principal Investigator on the Family Bereavement Program. He has been conducting research on children and families in high stress situations for over 20 years. His current interests focus on understanding the role of coping and coping efficacy in promoting health adaptation to stress, the assessment of stress events, and ongoing chronic difficulties and preventive interventions for children of divorce and bereaved children. His most recent books are the Handbook of Children's Coping, (Plenum Press, co-edited with Sharlene Wolchik) and the forthcoming The Promotion of Wellness in Children and Adolescents (Sage, co-edited with Dante Cicchetti, Julian Rappaport, and Roger P. Weissberg.).
