The American Psychosocial Oncology Society (APOS) is a multidisciplinary group of professionals working in the field of psychosocial and behavioral oncology, caring for patients with cancer and allied diseases. First organized as The American Society of Psychiatric and Behavioral Oncology/AIDS (ASPBOA) in 1986, both the membership and leadership of the group has changed to reflect the full range of disciplines that are involved with clinical care, research, teaching, and advocacy for patients with cancer and allied diseases, and their families. Dr. William Breitbart is a founding member of this organization and Dr. Harvey Max Chochinov is a member-at-large.

Canadian Virtual Hospice

The Canadian Virtual Hospice will be an Internet-based interactive network that will enable the provision of mutual support, and facilitate the exchange of information, communication, and collaboration, between and among health care professionals, palliative care researchers, the terminally ill, and their families. Hospital Anxiety and Depression (HAD) Scale

The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale is a self-report questionnaire used by clinicians and researchers to check whether patients are suffering from depression or generalized anxiety disorders, and if so, how severely. The scale enables you to establish the presence and severity of both anxiety and depression simultaneously, while giving a separate score for each.

A national program office of The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation with direction and technical assistance provided by the Practical Ethics Center at the University of Montana. Promoting Excellence is currently funding 22 projects to improve palliative care in different parts of the United States. This site has a directory of tools used by grantees, and includes a PDF of the McGill Quality of Life Questionnaire.
