Robert Twycross and Geoffrey Hanks in the United Kingdom. Dr. Turner was the first director of the Central Sydney Area Community Palliative Care Service and then director of the Palliative Care Unit at Lottie Stewart Hospital in Western Sydney. She developed and supervised the first community palliative care registrar training position within SIPM, where she is currently coordinator of training. In 1992, as a consultant in palliative care policy/planning for the New South Wales Health Department, she spent two years developing a framework of policy and service provision. In recent years, she developed an interest in palliative medicine in the rural sector and has traveled to rural centers to provide consultations and education.
