From Wholes to Parts: Operating with Factors, Multiples, and Fractions
Students use the number sense they have developed with whole numbers to begin
investigating fractions. Building on whole number concepts of prime factorization
and multiples, students develop an understanding of equivalent fractions and
common denominators. The unit ends with the exploration and practice of the
four basic operations with fractions.
