UPCOMING EVENTS The National Institute for Urban School Improvement, a federally funded project of the Office of Special Education Programs, U.S. Department of Education, is conducting two phoneseminars during its 4th Annual National Inclusive Schools Week. The Week will be celebrated in classrooms, schools, and communities to highlight the nation’s progress in providing a quality education to an increasingly diverse student population, particularly to those who have disabilities. This year’s celebration will place a special focus on the value of “working together.” Systemic change is not a process that occurs in isolation. Families, teachers, paraprofessionals, other school personnel, state and local administrators, and community members must reach out across all levels of the system to improve the quality of education for students with disabilities and create inclusive communities for all children. WORKING TOGETHER: Family, School, and Community Partnerships Across the Nation that Promote Inclusive Communities for All Children will highlight the need for, challenges to, and models of "working together" to build inclusive schools and communities. More information and registration information is available by calling (877) 332-2870 or by visiting the National Institute's Web site: |
