links to pose a question to the experts! Make sure you read their directions,
and tell them a bit about your project so they can help you best. Sometimes
it can take a week for the scientists to get back to you. Be patient.
We have only
selected a few of the many scientists you can ask questions to. These
two sites have a more comprehensive list if you cannot find the expert
you need.

Science Network at Washington University
This site, from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, has a
large science-related questions and answers, plus a section where you
may pose a question to a team of scientists. (However, you have to demonstrate
that you've done some research; the question has to be specific.)
Newton
BBS at the Argonne National Laboratory
This site is operated by the Argonne National Laboratory in Argonne,
Illinois. They have an archive of science-related questions and answers
that date back to 1991. If you can't find an answer, you may pose a
question to one of their scientists.

This is part of the Scientific American magazine web site. There is
an archive of science-related questions and answers, and a section where
you may ask a question.

a Scientist at Cornell
This is located at Cornell University, Cornell, New York. It has an
archive of science-related questions and answers, and a section where
you may ask a question.

a Scientist at Buena Vista University
This site is at Buena Vista University, in Storm Lake, Iowa has an archive
of science-related questions and answers (but it is not searchable,
you have to browse through it), and a section for your questions.

This site is operated by the U.S. Geological Service. They will answers
question on volcanoes, earthquakes, mountains, rocks, maps, water, lakes,
and rivers. It also has links to USGS web sites.

Dr. Canopy
This site is run by the International Canopy Network, based at Olympia,
Washington. They study forest canopies in tropical and temperate rainforests.
There is no archive.

a Scientist at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute
This site is operated by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. It focuses
on human biology and medical questions. There is a large archive separated
into various biological and medical topics.
Windows
to the Universe
This site is a web site on astronomy. Go to the "Search the Site"
menu to access an archive of astronomy-related questions and answers,
and to pose a question to an astronomer.

a Marine Scientist
This site is operated by OceanLink, of the Vancouver (Canada) Aquarium
Marine Science Center. There is an archive of marine science-related
questions and answers arranged by topic, and a section to ask questions
of marine scientists.
