Please contact us if you are interesting in using these instruments in your own work. The TELG Geometry Assessment is an 11-page instrument containing 16 questions covering a variety of geometry topics. The questions cover properties of shapes, shape composition/decomposition, measurement, symmetry, and spatial structuring. Some of the items have been culled from the task database and others have been devised specifically for this instrument. This assessment is being used by the TELG at EDC site as a pre/post test to evaluate the effect of instruction on general geometric understanding. The TELG Transformation Assessment is an 8-page instrument which intends to investigate student abilities in the area of transformation of geometric and other shapes. Except for the first, the questions are novel. Students are provided with a manipulative to assist their visualization and also receive brief training before beginning the assessment. This assessment is being used by the TELG at EDC site as a pre/post test to evaluate the effect of instruction on transformational ability. Items without citations in the Geometry Assessment were adapted from the work of our colleagues Rich Lehrer and Doug Clements in unpublished assessment instruments. Items without citations in the Transformation Assessment are original items developed for the TELG project. |
