WEEA Program Grantees The 17 WEEA grants in 2000 covered a wide range of topics, including leadership development, career and adult literacy education, nontraditional career exploration, students and adults with disabilities, and basic gender equity awareness. Several of these were systemic reform projects focusing specifically on gender equity and increasing opportunities for women, especially those from underrepresented populations. Grants are awarded by the WEEA Program, Office of Elementary and Secondary Education, the United States Department of Education. These projects continued the work of more than 700 past WEEA grantees to teach the best methods for implementing equitable education throughout the nation. Project descriptions are included in the listing for the year the grant was awarded, since many current grants cover multiple years:
