Cokie Roberts

ABOUT HER
After finishing college at Wellesley, Cokie Roberts, the daughter of two representatives of Congress, became a journalist, covering Congress and public policy for over 20 years now. She has worked as a co-anchor and special correpondent for ABC News, and as a Congressional correspondent for National Public Radio. She is often a substitute anchor for "Nightline."

Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the New York Times Magazine, the Atlantic Monthly.

She has won the highest award in public radio, the Edward R. Murrow Award. She was also the first broadcast journalist to win the Everett McKinley Dirksen Award for coverage of Congress. In 1991 she was awarded an Emmy for her contribution to the ABC News Special, "Who is Ross Perot?" Her coverage of the Iran/Contra affair for that program won her the Weintal Award in 1987.

Ms. Roberts is former president of the Radio and Television Correspondents' Association.
