Dana Katherine ScullyTM

BIRTHDAY: February 23, 1964,

ABOUT HER
With an undergraduate degree in physics from the University of Maryland and a medical degree from Fox TV, Dana Scully was recruited by the FBI to teach at its academy in Quantico. There she was assigned to work with Fox Mulder on the X-FilesTM, those files classified as unexplained phenomena. While Mulder believes in just about anything with little more proof than some ominous music, Scully is a sceptical, logical scientist.

In the field of TV where women almost never have any knowledge of science, are neither outspoken nor brave, the character of five feet three Dana Scully stands out. Over and over again she has been proven to have knowledge of almost every field of science, from six foot long nematodes with human faces to lava vomit. She struggles hard in the man's world of the FBI to show her competence and authority and is a great role model for many women. She does not quail before extraterrestrials or scary noises in the night --even after repeated weekly experience that almost anything that sounds bad, will be.

She is a woman who manages to be, as one web page calls her, I. D. D. G. (Intellectually Drop Dead Gorgeous).
