Panel Exemplary and Promising Programs The U.S. Department of Education's Gender Equity Expert Panel Exemplary and Promising Gender Equity Programs 2000 The U.S. Department of Education's Gender Equity Expert Panel was developed to identify promising and exemplary programs that promote gender equity in and through education. The 11 Exemplary and Promising programs recommended by the Gender Equity Panel are an important set of resources for educators and other community leaders who want to use programs that have evidence that they can increase gender equity. This print and online publication provides reviews of 1 exemplary and 10 promising gender equity programs in career education, mathematics/ science/ technology, prevention of sexual and racial harassment, and teacher education. The introductory sections of this report describe the U.S. Department of Education's Expert Panel System, the Gender Equity Expert Panel review process, and the four criteria categories and subcategories used to evaluate these gender equity programs.
