Infusing Equity into Policy and Practice:
A Course for Equity Specialists
Here is an exciting opportunity to participate in an on-line course for
equity specialists (Title IX coordinators, gender equity specialists, or
equal opportunity officers in a school, school district, or state agency).
You will
· explore the history and rationale for Title IX of the Education
Amendments of 1972
· review current research on continuing and emerging educational equity
issues
· learn the basic role and responsibilities of a Title IX officer and a
framework for carrying out these duties
· Assess the status of Title IX implementation and gender equity efforts
in your institution and develop a customized action plan to address
your needs
· Learn strategies for building support for equity within your
institution and in the larger community
Course Sessions:
1-Title IX and Gender Equity 4-Responsibilities of the Title IX
Coordinator
2-Federal, State and Local Roles in 5-Implementing the Title IX
Grievance Procedure
Achieving Equity 6-Action for Change
3-Compliance with Title IX 7-Presentation of Action Plans
Equipment: All you need to participate is access to the Internet, an
e-mail address, and your commitment to learning more about Title IX.
Course Requirements: Final project; posting messages to group discussions;
and participation in ongoing course evaluation.
Fee: $80 (includes course materials) Enrollment: Limited to 25 (15
minimum)
