David Sadker at American University in Washington D.C. has done
a lot of observational studies on how teachers treat boys and
girls differently, and he also has good data on why those
differences are so hard to obliterate, even for teachers
who really want to provide equal education to all students.

David got interested in this subject when he and his wife were in
graduate school in the same department and realized that they
were getting different educations. They went on to do
much research in elementary classrooms. Myra recently
died of cancer, but David has continued the work.

Their book, _Failing at Fairness_, is a good start.
