I have been told that here in LA Unified School Dist. some
parents have complained to school officials that their daughters
are being encouraged to go on to college, and these latino parents
don't want that. They have persauded the school dist. to inform
teachers of their daughters not to encourage them in class to
think about college or to give these girls counseling in the
college office. Specifically girls have been singled out for
this, and it runs counter to the district's policy of encouraging
ALL students to get post-grad job training.
Does this violate Title IX?
