ENGAGING MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS IN MATH AND SCIENCE

HANDS-ON TUTORIAL BEGINS JUNE 19th

Here's an exciting opportunity to explore ways to increase girls' interest
and participaton in math and science at a time when you can have
significant impact--middle school. Join with formal and informal educators
for a summer online course designed to help strengthen equitable classrooms
and support learning for girls and boys.

Engaging Middle School Girls builds on what teachers already know about
good instructional practice, addresses the unique social and academic needs
of middle school girls, explores the "lens" and "hidden curriculum" that
unintentionally may limit girls' engagement with math or science.
Sessions include:
Gender in math and science classrooms; Equitable expectations and
interactions; Equitable teaching strategies; Counteracting bias in math and
science curricula; Equity in assessment; Power, empowerment, and
competence; Family and community support; and Final presentations.

PDPs available
Course fee: $80 per person; For teams of 2 or more - $60 per person
