WASHINGTON (AP) -- A day after the 46th anniversary of the
Supreme Court ruling outlawing segregation in the nation's
public schools, education experts said Thursday that schools are
becoming more divided along racial and ethnic lines.
``The rise of segregation is a peril to opportunity in this
society,'' Harvard University Professor Gary Orfield said at a
National Education Association panel discussion on how the many promises of
integrated education offered by the landmark 1954 Brown vs. Board of
Education decision have gone unfulfilled. . . .
